The Milaneser is an ongoing collective illustration project, capturing and storytelling the city of Milan through faux cover of an imaginary digest molded on the New Yorker format. IN 2023 it became an actual book with many excerpts by notable city personalities, included the mayor of the city, Beppe Sala.
For my contribution I chose one of the huge, somehow unsettling, deco fountains of the monumental central station.
This kind of international, eclectic, uncommon in #Rome, kind of decor really struck me as a kid in my first visit in Milan, on a cold autumn morning, back in 1983.
I tried to recapture that sense of monumentality so different from the roman one but in some way similar in spirit, the different palette of the city, the sense of wonder and being lost of that first impression, just out of the train.
