The cover for the acid-blues-occult-rock band
Tenebra’s ambum
Moongazer is about the fight between darkness over light, hence the band’s name, where the knight embodying the darkness kills the Sun, in a surreal wasteland.
Imagery is taken from an old 15th century alchemic tome named Aurora Consurgens, attributed to a pseudo Tommaso D’Aquino, in which is depicted a joust between a sun-headed knight and a moon-black globe-headed knight, which I found very powerful.
The knight is dressed like a landsknecht cavalier because of their renowed ferociousness.
